Kodagu or Coorg, is a tiny land in the Western Ghats of
India blessed by Mother Nature, a heaven on earth. The encyclopedia defines Coorg as "a province of India administered by
a commissioner..." but for the people there, Coorg is like a string of pearls on the hills of Western Ghats a region covered
with great stretches of forest, coffee plantations and paddy fields in the valley. The Kodavas or Coorgs, the dominant community
of this place, are known for their rich folk songs, dance, bravery and hospitality. The river Cauvery, which makes its bold
course across this land, has blessed this Heaven on Earth with thick forests, natural falls and perfect weather all year round.
Originally a warrior race, this brave but peace loving community today makes its contributions to Indias agriculture
through its coffee output, its defences through soldiers who have made names for themselves in the army, and today, the countrys
economy with young professionals in every walk of life. This astonishing land of Coorg with brave men, beautiful women and
a unique tradition and culture distinctive from the rest of the country is indeed called the Scotland of India.
